According to a Northwestern Medicine study, memories work a lot like a game of telephone. Each time you recall a memory, you are not remembering the original memory, but the thought you last called to mind. This idea is something that has always intrigued me along with the concept of passing time and nostalgia. For this series I chose to delve into personal writing to bring up memories of my past. I chose excerpts from past journal entries and scanned them onto photos along with the date they were written. Through the progression of quotes, you can see the development of thoughts and feelings over time. The quotes are paired with photos that were shot out of focus to capture this lack of clarity that memories have. Together, they create a nostalgic look into the past and an introspective feeling.
